Canon Hv Flash Vivitar 285HV Flash Unit Safe With Canon Rebel XT?

Vivitar 285HV Flash unit safe with Canon Rebel XT? - canon hv flash

I have a 20-year-old Vivitar 285 HV flash, and I wonder whether it is safe to use with the Canon Rebel XT.

I think he is mistaken about his Vivitar 285 flash. If your 20 years old, absolutely not the GM since the first report I have in the model HR 2007, introduced as the 285HV was first found. The 285HV has a voltage of low firing temperature (about 6 volts) for use with digital cameras redesigned. 20 years ago, there was no such necessity.

Do not use more of Canon 285, because it has a trigger voltage of about 500 volts and fry the electronics of the camera.
