I think he is mistaken about his Vivitar 285 flash. If your 20 years old, absolutely not the GM since the first report I have in the model HR 2007, introduced as the 285HV was first found. The 285HV has a voltage of low firing temperature (about 6 volts) for use with digital cameras redesigned. 20 years ago, there was no such necessity.
